Writer’s Purgatory

31 May Writer’s Purgatory

May is gone and I’m looking for Beatrice to guide me towards the exit-lanes of Purgatory.

Yes, writing is tough sport.

And I have to say, I have a newfound appreciation for those artists out there who have created something from scratch. Who have discovered a voice that is their own, as oppose to taking the joyride of mediocrity on coattails of what has already been done. There is a meaningful place for recycling ideas. Seriously. The comfort of going back for part 2, 3, 4 can be like returning to a favorite restaurant. There is real creative effort involved. But there are rarely any balls around that match the size of the paychecks.

So yeah, to all those creative people out there that are suffering the sharp brambles of the unblazen trail, I salute you. Real creation requires real sacrifice.
